Bingo Players Disappointed by England's Smoking Ban Law

By Robin McClure, Nov 23rd 2007
Smoking Ban Law

The recent smoking ban law introduced in England has led to many complaints from bingo players who, contrary to popular believes are both smokers and non-smokers. Due to the recent smoking ban for public locations, as well as the high tax rates, the Bingorama at The Ritz hall and The Regal at Staveley both in Derbyshire have been closed and thirty people have lost their jobs.

After a survey made among bingo players it has been reported that they chose to smoke outside rather than play Bingo without the right to light up a cigarette in the bingo halls. The shutting down of the two bingo halls in Derbyshire has led to concern that similar situations arising in other public locations will mean the loss of smoking bingo players and have a direct negative impact on revenues.

Hence, the theory about the dire consequences of the the smoking ban laws on the land-based bingo industry are beginning to circulate. Online bingo halls owners dispute that bingo lovers will in due course turn their interest to new websites with free online bingo games offered on the Internet.

Supporters of online bingo halls say that while clients can play bingo in the comfort of their own homes, they can also smoke while playing bingo online, they can also interact with other bingo players on the chat rooms offered on the online bingo halls.
