New Progress in Online Bingo Law in US

By Diane Kennedy, Nov 21st 2007
US Bingo Laws

iMEGA??s actions against UIGEA are in the spotlight as observers with vested interest in the online gambling world and online bingo industry in the US are hoping that this will lend a hand towards an about-turn in that country??s legislation regarding online gambling.

The contentious regulation has seen the online bingo industry based outside of the US eliminated from the US gambling market. iMEGA??s actions against UIGEA seek to have UIEGA restrained and these actions are based on the deficiency of sustaining regulations compulsory by the law. US government replied that the pressure group is not a valid representative of the online gambling industry.

In face of the presiding Judge in court, government??s legal representatives acknowledged that good progress had been made and that the laws would be ??soon available for implementation.?

The existing WTO confrontation over the ??discriminatory rule? of the US towards online bingo and other players in the online gambling-related industry based outside US will be influenced by the appearance of these pledged regulations. The set of laws would toughen the case of foreign online gaming groups who are alleging compensation from the US which aim to pull out from its WTO duties in this regard.
