Two women from the UK were detained by Turkish authorities after being caught playing bingo in a bar in Altinkum while on holiday.
Sarah Holland and Carla Harrison, both 25, are from Denbighshire and came to holiday in Turkey with a group of 30 tourists. The two ladies declared they did not know that bingo was considered a form of gambling and is illegal in Turkey.
The two British ladies said they were playing bingo with the other 30 tourists at the Sunshine Bar when armed police surrounded them and seized the bingo equipment. The police authorities held them for questioning for 4 hours and in the end fined them with 117 Turkish Lira (£42) each.
